  1. The advice that Mrs. Rosen says to the girls is, “It is important to be one of the crowd, always. Be one of many. Be sure that they never have reason to remember your face.” The reason why she is saying this is that if the soldiers remember their faces, they might want to kill the girls in the future, if they do something else wrong. Mrs. Rosen wants the girls to walk a different way to school from now on so that they won’t be seen by the same soldiers, again. Mrs. Rosen’s advice means that the girls should be careful and they should blend in with the crowd, so they aren’t seen as one person, but as a part of many. Mrs. Rosen is trying to protect the girls so they will be safe because Ellen and her family are Jewish.

    1. that is a really good blog because it has everything it needs, and a lot of detail about why and how. You also took things out of the text to make it better and explain things, like how you took Mrs, Rosen words and put them in the text.

    2. I agree with what you are saying. I like how you added about Ellen being Jewish, even though they did not talk about it in this chapter.

    3. I think you do a good job caputuring Mrs. Rosen's intent with the advice. Imagine how scary it would have been as a mom to allow your kids to walk to school if your country had been invaded and soldiers portrolled your streets, set curfews and took your food. However, you'd have no idea if it would last for months or forever, so you'd have to continue and try to live a normal life. The girls knows their mothers were scared and that is why they didn't want their moms to know about the run in with the soldiers.

  2. Mrs. Rosen gives the girls advice to never be noticed by the soldiers. She wants to protect them by making sure they don't draw attention to themselves. She insists that the girls walk a different route to school and that they behave so as to never be singled out and identified. Because the Rosen's are Jewish, this advice is especially important for Ellen's safety. The girls and their families may be in danger if the soldiers become suspicious and the girls are recognized.

    1. I agree. If Ellen gets noticed, she could draw a lot of attention to herself and possible get herself and her family killed by the Germans.

  3. What advice Mrs, Rosen gives to the girls after they ran into the soldiers, is to stay away from them and take a different way home. Why Mrs,Rosen told them that is because the soldiers might remember them, and you do not want to be remembered by a Nazi soldier, because they might want to hurt you in the future, because you did something wrong. What Mrs, Rosen's advice means is "to stay in the crowd" and don't give them a reason to notice you, because it is probably not a good reason if they can remember you, because if you do a good thing they don't have a bad reason to remember you, but if you do something bad they then they do have a good reason to remember you.

  4. The advice Mrs Rosen gives the girls is to walk a different way to school, even if it is a longer way to walk. She wants them to not be seen by the same soldiers. She also tells them to blend in with the crowd and not to standout. She tells them this so that they don't have as much of a risk of being in trouble with the soldiers.

  5. The advice Mrs.Rosen gives the girls about playing outside with their run in with the soldiers is to not go on that street again. She told the girls this because she didn’t want the soldiers to recognize Annemarie,Ellen, and Kristi. Kristi said “they will recognize me because he said I look like his daughter,” I think her advice means that they shouldn’t go on that street because the soldiers might ask them more questions and they might find out that Ellen is Jewish. I also think her advice means not to let the soldiers see them because they might come inspect the apartment.

    2. You gave great detail Emma. I like how you added an example from the text. I agree with you that Mrs. Rosen did want to give the soldiers another opportunity to question the girls more.

  6. Mrs Rosen advised the girls to be one of the crowd, try not to be remembered and walk a different way to school going forward. She is trying to protect the girls. Their country is being occupied by the Nazis. This was a time of great fear. There was information about what the Nazis were doing in Europe to Jews. I think Ms Rosen knew no good could come from the Nazis knowing more about anyone, especially Ellen who is Jewish was not a good idea.

  7. The advice Mrs. Rosen gave the girls was to stay away from the soldiers. The reason Mrs. Rosen told the girls to stay away from the soldiers was, First, they could learn something about them that they did not want them to know. Like “Where do you live do you celebrate any holiday that's coming up." Next, the soldiers could do something bad to them and their family. Finally, the soldiers could take them away tell someone something about them or do something to their school. Like The soldiers could take Ellen's family away and for being Jewish.

    1. I had forgotten the Nazis had questioned the girls about holidays the celebrate. That was a good fact to remember, as it clearly shows the Nazis were trying to learn more about the girls, their culture and religion. This is why Mrs Rosen did not want the girls talking to the Nazis and trying to stay unnoticed
